McMahon eyes Everton deal
Blackpool look set to lose the services of Everton loan pair Peter Clarke and Keith Southern unless they can sign them on a permanent basis.

The Seasiders had hoped to complete season-long loans for the duo, who have been at Bloomfield Road since the start of the season.

But Everton have blocked the move and League rules mean Blackpool are not permitted to renew the three-month arrangement.

Defender Clarke and midfielder Southern could play their last games for the club at Brentford on Saturday.

But Seasiders boss Steve McMahon is trying to negotiate a deal with the Premiership club.

"It's a killer blow, so I've got to look elsewhere and re-jig, although it's not dead in the water if I can try and get something done," McMahon told Blackpool's website.

Clarke made a number of Premiership appearances in the Everton defence last season.

And it would appear that Blackpool are more optimistic about being able to strike a deal for Southern.
