Blackburn Rovers forward Junior Hoilett relishing role

Blackburn forward Junior Hoilett has praised manager Steve Kean for giving him the chance of playing regular first team football.

The 20-year-old has scored six goals since Kean replaced former boss Sam Allardyce in December.

"He's changed a lot and I'm definitely enjoying my football," Hoilett told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"You get frustrated when you're not playing, so since Steve arrived it's been great for me."

The Canadian joined Blackburn as a trainee in August 2009 and has gone on to make 55 appearances - over half of them this season.

The Ontario-born player, whose decisive third goal against Wolves on Sunday safeguarded Rovers' Premier League survivial, admits he would relish the chance of signing a long-term deal at Ewood Park.

"I'm happy at the club at the moment and feel I'm playing well," he said. "I just hope we can get something sorted.

"It's great being part of the team. They work hard every day in training and it showed in the last game of the season.

"Everybody worked hard for each other and everybody trusts each other with the ball."

Kean said in March he wanted Hoilett to remain with the club, but would not enter into contract negotiations until the summer.

Hoilett's current deal is due to expire at the end of next season.
