Blackburn Rovers re-sign Roque Santa Cruz from Man City
Santa Cruz joined Blackburn from Bayern Munich and was an instant hit
Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of their former striker Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City.
The 29-year-old Paraguayan had a medical at Ewood Park on Friday and tied up the loose ends of his loan switch until the end of the season.
"When Blackburn showed an interest in me, it was very easy to decide," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
Santa Cruz, who played for Rovers from 2007-09, could feature in their Premier League game at Chelsea on Saturday.
He added: "I felt a bit ignored by the manager (Roberto Mancini). It's been hard not to play and not to be chosen even though I felt great to play so I'm very excited about being back here to strengthen a team that are already very good.
"It will be my aim to perform now so at the end of the season we can maybe do something permanently."
The former Bayern Munich striker scored 29 goals in 70 games during his first spell at Ewood Park following a £3.8m move from German giants Bayern Munich.
His form at Blackburn persuaded Man City to splash out £17.5m for his services in July 2009 but injuries and competition restricted him to only six Premier League starts.
Kean, who took over when Sam Allardyce was surprisingly sacked by new Indian owners Venky's in December, revealed his delight at making Santa Cruz his first signing of the January transfer window.
"Roque feels like he's got some business to finish from the first time he was here," he told the club website.
"He had a fantastic spell [at Blackburn] and he showed his quality. Hopefully he'll do that again until the end of the season.
"It's massive from his point of view because he doesn't have to settle in at a new club. He's coming back to a place that was special to him and I'm sure he's going to deliver."
Commenting on the possibility of making the deal permanent, Kean added: "We're trying to speak to Manchester City at the moment regarding an option about signing Roque at the end of the season, so we don't know about that yet.
"It's something we'll ask for, but we don't know if they'll commit to it."
Santa Cruz has made only two appearances this season at City, where he has been behind Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Emmanuel Adebayor in the pecking order.
His departure was hastened by City's signing of £27m Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko earlier this week.
Santa Cruz added: "Blackburn have always treated me well and that's the reason that it's very easy for me to go back."
"I have built a friendship with all of the players and I saw a lot of the guys during my time with City. I'm very pleased that everything has worked this way."
