Blackburn Rovers have rejected an offer from Tottenham for England midfielder David Bentley, BBC Sport understands.

Bentley, 23, has made it clear he wants to leave Blackburn, who have already rejected an offer from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

His current deal runs until 2011 and he is expected to cost buying clubs in the region of 17m.

Bentley said in June he wanted to leave Rovers to allow him to play Champions League or Uefa Cup football.
