Warnock agreed a new four-year contract this summer
Blackburn's Stephen Warnock has expressed his delight at the appointment of Paul Ince as the club's new manager.
Ince agreed a three-year contract at Ewood Park over the weekend and will be presented to the media on Tuesday.
"I think it's an exciting time for the club," the England defender told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"It's disappointing to lose Mark Hughes but the job that Paul Ince has done at his previous clubs has been fantastic."
Warnock was part of Liverpool's academy at the same time that Ince was captain of the first team at Anfield between 1997 and 1999. But he has admitted that the pair of them rarely came into contact.
"We used to cross paths every now and again but I didn't really know him that well," he said.
"You just knew of him and knew what he was about. He always had a good presence about him and if he can bring that to Blackburn it will only benefit the players we have.
I think it's fantastic and hopefully we'll have a lot of years of success under the new manager
"I've spoken to people who have worked for him at both Macclesfield and MK Dons and they have all got nothing but respect for him."
Warnock, who agreed a new four-year contract with Mark Hughes at the end of last season has stressed that he is not looking for a move out of Ewood Park despite voicing his concerns at Hughes' departure.
"When Mark Hughes left I was very disappointed. I was under the impression he was going to stay and be our manager. But with the new appointment I am fully behind it," he added.
"It was put in the papers that it was looking like I wanted to get away. It was far from the point. It was just the fact that I had signed my contract with the view to the manager being there.
"I am more than happy at the club and I think it's fantastic and hopefully we'll have a lot of years of success under the new manager."
