Blackburn's Dutch defender Andre Ooijer will miss the rest of the season after breaking a leg against Manchester City.
Ooijer was in great pain after picking up the injury
The 32-year-old fell awkwardly after accidentally tangling with City striker Bernardo Corradi during Rovers' win.
His father-in-law, former Netherlands international Willy van de Kerkhof, told Dutch TV that Ooijer had broken his fibula and torn ankle ligaments.
"I spoke with Andre on the phone and he was very down, though this injury will not end his career," he added.
"His knee is not really damaged like we feared."
Ooijer, a regular for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Germany, joined Blackburn on a two-year deal last July for an undisclosed fee after 10 years at PSV Eindhoven.
