Nelsen set to make January return

Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen is on course to return to action early in the New Year after missing the entire season so far with hamstring trouble.

The 29-year-old New Zealand international is back in training and has set his sights on a quick return.

Boss Mark Hughes said: "Ryan is having some good sessions with the group and is looking like a footballer again.

"He is positive and must build up the damaged area. If he's back before the end of January we'll be delighted."
