Andy Todd is on his way out of Ewood Park after a bust-up with Blackburn boss Graeme Souness.
BBC Sport understands the row started after Todd was told he would be in the team to face Leeds only to be replaced by Craig Short at the last minute.
As a result, Todd held showdown talks with Souness who told the central defender he could leave the club.
Todd has played 21 games for Rovers this season but he has not figured since the loss to Leeds.
