Rovers face Thompson loss
David Thompson
Thompson has suffered from a persistent knee problem
Blackburn midfielder David Thompson could be out for the rest of the season, report BBC Radio Lancashire.

The 26-year-old is currently recovering in the US after undergoing knee surgery at the Steadman Clinic in Colorado.

"I'd like to say in surgical terms, the operation has been relatively minor," said chief executive, John Williams.

"Dr Steadman has perfected his techniques over many years and has merely tidied up bits and pieces inside David's knee.

"He's had a problem with some bones rubbing against each other.

"I wouldn't like to rule David out for the rest of the season entirely, he may come back an play some games towards the end of the season.

"However, realistically, I think we have to think of the player first and if that means he doesn't play until next season, then so be it."
