Amoruso defends Rovers start
Lorenzo Amoruso
Amoruso has been hampered by a knee injury
Lorenzo Amoruso has cited injury as the reason why both he and Barry Ferguson have made poor starts for Blackburn.

The former Glasgow Rangers duo have come in for heavy criticism since moving from Scotland in the summer.

"Just before the first game of the season, I had a strange injury and the knee kept going all the time," said Amoruso.

"I was playing the games but I wasn't 100% and then I got to the point where I couldn't bend or run properly.

"Myself and Barry got hammered by some of the press. There were some mistakes but don't forget that I had the injury and Barry was recovering."

"We needed a bit of time to settle in. A new club, new team-mates - it's not as easy as people think," added the former Rangers star, who arrived from Ibrox with Ferguson in the summer.
