Birmingham City have completed the signing of Scotland international Chris Burke on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old becomes Birmingham's first new addition since the club were relegated from the Premier League on the final day of the season.

Burke left Cardiff in May, following the Bluebirds' failure to win promotion to the top flight via the play-offs.

The winger, who will officially join Birmingham on 1 July, played under Blues boss Alex McLeish at Rangers.

Burke made more than 100 appearances for the SPL club, where he broke into the first team as a teenager, before moving to Cardiff in January 2009.

He scored five goals in 50 games last season as Cardiff finished fourth in the Championship and were beaten by Reading in their play-off semi-final.
