Blues record impressive victory

Birmingham City's encouraging pre-season form continued with a 3-1 win over Czech side Viktoria Plzen.

Scottish international striker Garry O'Connor scored for the second successive game, as did Gary McSheffrey from the penalty spot.

Tunisian midfielder Mehdi Nafti also grabbed a rare goal after neat work from trialist Zola Matumona.

The 20-year-old Congolese player was given clearance to play by his current club Brussels.

Blues manager Alex McLeish also took a look at young French centre half Yamoudou Camara who came on for the final quarter of the game as a replacement for Martin Taylor.

Promising teenager Jordon Mutch was given the full ninety minutes, with his fellow youngsters Jared Wilson and Sone Aluko also handed another taste of first team action.

Blues complete their Austrian tour with a game against German side Nuremburg in Salzburg on Sunday.
