Birmingham City's Marcus Bent says he changed his mind about joining Cardiff because he has more chance of playing in the Premier League at St Andrew's.
The 30-year-old striker pulled out of a move to Cardiff at the last second when Blues bid for the Charlton man.
"I spoke to Cardiff and their manager and they were very excited about signing me," he told the club website.
"When Birmingham came in it was a lot more appealing because they are more likely to get in the Premier League."
Bent has plenty of top-flight experience having played for Everton, Charlton and on loan at Wigan last season and he has no qualms about playing in the Championship with Alex McLeish's side.
"There is a lot of pressure on Birmingham now because they are one of the favourites to go back up but, for me, that's something I thrive on.
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't think we could go up. I'll be giving it my all."
