Birmingham manager Alex McLeish says it would have been helpful to have made more signings in the transfer window.
"I said in January we needed some more experience," said McLeish. "We only managed to get three players in. I thought we needed three or four more.
"We weren't able to do it at the time. Things just didn't work out for us. I thought the squad was a little light.
"But the reason that we're here is that we haven't taken care of nearly as many home games as we should have."
Blues signed three players in January - James McFadden for £5m from Everton, David Murphy for £1.5m from Hibernian and Mauro Zarate on loan from Al-Sadd in Qatar.
