Birmingham have completed the signing of Chelsea's Denmark winger Jesper Gronkjaer in a £2.2m deal.
Gronkjaer has signed a two-year contract, with the option for a further 12 months at St Andrews, after Sevilla pulled out of a proposed move
The Spanish club claimed that they had reached a deal to sign Gronkjaer, but he has chosen to remain in the Premiership at Birmingham.
He re-joins former Chelsea team-mates Mario Melchiot and Mikael Forssell.
Sevilla ditched a deal after Gronkjaer asked for more time to think about the switch.
A statement said: "The club believes it has waited long enough," read a statement from Sevilla. "The club will now work to sign another player of similar characteristics."
The 26-year-old Gronkjaer was due to meet with Sevilla coach Joaquin Caparros
on Tuesday, when Caparros said he was planning to "look him in the eyes, and
have a talk to find out if he can adapt to the team and the city".
But Birmingham maintained their interest and have got their man.
