Morrison rejects switch reports
Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison keeps his eye on the ball
Morrison has yet to score for Birmingham this season

Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison has distanced himself from reports linking him with a loan move to Division One side Sunderland.

The Republic of Ireland striker was rumoured to be lining up a switch to the Stadium of Light after struggling to get back into the Blues' team after injury.

But he claims the story came from earlier in the season when he was making his way back from a dislocated shoulder.

"It was suggested very early in the season about the possibility of me going out on loan because I'd been out injured for so long," said Morrison.

"But I spoke to the manager Steve Bruce and we came to the conclusion that it would be best for me to work hard here and get my match fitness in the reserves and that's what I've done.

"The actual article itself first appeared three or four months ago - it isn't true anymore and I'm happy here and I just want to wait for my chance to come," he told Birmingham's official website.

The Black Cats are managed by former Republic boss Mick McCarthy and it was thought that Morrison wnated to link up with him again.

Morrison has found himself down the pecking order at St Andrews behind Christophe Dugarry, Mikael Forssell and David Dunn, who at times has played as the second striker.

Morrison was reported to have said: "I'm very frustrated at the moment. All I can do is carry on doing my best in training but it's hard to impress when you are not starting games."
