Vaesen set for loan deal
Nico Vaesen
Vaesen has been out of action for seven months
Goalkeeper Nico Vaesen is set to to be loaned out by Birmingham to help his bid for fitness after a serious knee injury.

Vaesen has been out for seven months after suffering cruciate ligament damage against Aston Villa in March.

Blues' boss Steve Bruce said he wanted to help Vaesen regain match fitness as soon as possible.

"The one thing he wants now is as much football as he possibly can," said Bruce.

"When you come through a serious knee injury the one thing that you want and need is games under the belt.

"Nico will get in a couple of reserve games, and then we'll explore the avenue of him going on loan because it might be a solution to get him some action."

Even when fit, the Belgian will have a tough task dislodging on loan first-choice keeper Maik Taylor who has conceded just six goals in 10 games for the Blues.

Vaesen stays patient
