Birmingham's French forward Christophe Dugarry signed his new two-year deal on the pitch ahead of Sunday's final home game with West Ham.

Dugarry has been in outstanding form for City since his loan move from Bordeaux during the January transfer window.

There had been speculation about Dugarry's future but he has decided to stay at St Andrews.

Bruce said: "A lot of people doubted Christophe when he came here but he has shut a lot of people up with his performances.

"He shook my hand when he came and said he wanted to stay if we were still in the Premiership.

"When he came here he was up for grabs and there were not many takers. I've no doubt about his ability and he has shown an unbelievable hunger and desire to lead from the front for us.

"We have the nucleus of a really good squad who can all play in the Premiership but I wouldn't be doing my job properly if I didn't add that little bit of extra quality."

Meanwhile midfielder Robbie Savage has capped his first season at the club by being voted their Player of the Year.

Savage edged out Bruce's choice, Kenny Cunningham to the award.

The Welsh international moved from Leicester City last summer in a £2m deal and has become a favourite among the Blues fans.
