Cisse suffers setback
Birmingham's Aliou Cisse
Cisse has been struggling with injury recently
Birmingham midfielder Aliou Cisse faces several weeks on the sidelines after damaging ankle ligaments in training.

It is a bitter blow for the Senegal skipper who has been sidelined in recent weeks by a calf problem.

The 27-year-old was expected to return in Saturday's home game against Chelsea, but now faces an extended period out of the team.

Cisse, who had formed an effective partnership with Robbie Savage in the centre of the park, will have further scans on Monday to determine the exact extent of the injury.

"Cisse had been perfectly fit in terms of recovering from his calf but then did something to his ankle in training on Friday," said Blues manager Steve Bruce.

"He went for a X-ray which revealed no breaks but he is having further scans after the weekend and we believe he has ankle ligament damage.

"It is going to set him back a good few weeks. We will know more on Monday or Tuesday when we get the results of the scans and see what the surgeon says."
