Bluebirds boss Bayliss threatens squad changes

Angry Barrow manager Dave Bayliss has threatened changes to his squad after losing the two opening Blue Square Bet Premier games.

The Bluebirds lost 3-1 at Histon on Saturday followed by Tuesday night's 3-1 defeat by Gateshead.

"Whether some like it or not, they might be going (out) on-loan," Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"We want to do well for this football club and if it means upsetting a few people then we'll do that."

Martin Brittain scored twice as Gateshead came from behind to win at Holker Street.

It was also the second time in two games that Barrow had failed to hold on to a lead after Mark Boyd's stunning free-kick opened the scoring.

The two defeats have left the Bluebirds bottom of the table and still without a point.

"We believed this squad was strong enough to take us through until everyone was fit but we're being made liars of," Bayliss said.

"The players out there weren't good enough and hopefully by Saturday we'll have new personnel in the side because we need it by the looks of it.

"We can only do so much. If the lads don't listen then we'll change the personnel... we don't beat around the bush, we'll get rid of them," he added.

Barrow made seven new additions to their squad during a busy summer in Ciaran Donnelly, Danny Forrest, Andrew Nicholas, Marc Goodfellow, Andrew Milne, Matt Heywood and Shaun Pearson while Alan Martin and Andy Cook have both joined on-loan.

Injuries and suspension have so far deprived the Bluebirds of striker Nick Chadwick and skipper Paul Jones along with Donnelly and Hulbert.

Bayliss continued: "You make your own luck in football and if you don't work hard enough you don't get lucky and we haven't worked hard enough.

"The buck stops with us and we'll take all the flak we get because we haven't been good enough.

"There's more expectation on the lads this season because of what we achieved last year and so far the lads haven't delivered and I think they all know that."
