Cottee leaves Barnet
Tony Cottee
Tony Cottee (r): In charge for only four months
Barnet player-manager Tony Cottee has left the Third Division outfit by mutual consent.

A joint statement from Cottee and the club said that Barnet's poor league position had prompted the decision.

They are currently 18th in Division Three.

Cottee said: "With the current precarious situation, the Chairman and I agree it is best that the team is placed in the hands of a man with more experience."

Chairman Tony Kleanthous said: "I firmly believe that Tony will become a top manager in the game and I wanted him to do it for us.

"Tony will always be welcome at Underhill."

John Still, director of football at the club, will resume his former role as manager for the remainder of this season.

Cottee moved to Barnet last November in an attempt to launch his managerial career.

His tenure began sensationally, with Barnet hammering Blackpool 7-0 at Underhill.

But their recent form has been disastrous. The Bees have lost their last three games and have failed to win in seven.
