Trouten was a regular with Airdrie in the season just concluded
Ayr United have signed Alan Trouten after the midfielder left Airdrie United, who were relegated along with the Somerset Park side this season.
The 24-year-old former Morton and Queen's Park player had joined Airdrie from Clyde last summer.
But several experienced players are among seven released by Ayr after their demotion to Division Two.
Defender Kevin James, midfielder Billy Gibson and strikers Tam McManus and Mark Roberts have exited the club.
In addition, veteran defender Andy Aitken has joined Annan Athletic as player-assistant manager, while striker Kevin Cawley and midfielder Scott Agnew have left Somerset Park at the end of their contracts.
Ayr suffered automatic relegation after a 2-1 defeat by Morton on the final day of the league season.
Airdrie followed after losing to Brechin City in the play-off semi-final, the Glebe Park outfit going on to miss out on promotion after defeat to Cowdenbeath in the final.
