Carson's loan spell at Villa is now at an end

Goalkeeper Scott Carson is predicting good things for Aston Villa next season - whether he is there or not.

The England international's season-long loan from Liverpool is now over and the two clubs have yet to finalise any permanent deal for the 22-year-old.

He told the club website: "I don't know what's going to happen [to me] but hopefully the team do well.

"You only have to look at the squad. There are a lot of young players, and the younger ones are very talented."

Although he hopes to be part of Martin O'Neill's side next season, Carson is confident the team will progress regardless.

"Hopefully the manager will keep adding to it and developing it so the team can push on to the next step.

"It's been good for me at Villa. When I came here getting into Europe was the aim and that's what we've done."
