Aston Villa striker Chris Sutton hopes to make his full debut soon after starting his first reserves game in Tuesday's 3-2 win over West Ham.
The 33-year-old former Birmingham City forward played for 74 minutes in front of Martin O'Neill and Randy Lerner.
"Obviously I've got to work hard to get my fitness up and push for a first team place," he told the club's website.
"All I can do is train as hard as I can, do my best and hopefully it will come sooner rather than later."
