Kinsella joins Villa
Mark Kinsella
Kinsella had a good World Cup with Ireland

Mark Kinsella has completed his move from Charlton to Aston Villa in a 1m deal.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder played in his country's 3-0 win over Finland on Wednesday before flying back to England to sign the two-year contract.

Kinsella,30, has been with Charlton for the last six years.

"The manager and the chairman both have great ambitions," Kinsella told the Villa website.

"I know one or two players have left during the summer but that happens at every club, and I'm delighted to fill one of the gaps.

"I'm looking forward to the future with Villa. It's a massive club and I want to help to bring success here."

Kinsella has been plagued by a recurring knee injury over the past 18 months and he missed the Premiership opening-day defeat to Chelsea due to a stomach bug.

He was told at the beginning of the season that Claus Jensen and Scott Parker were manager Alan Curbishley's first-choice midfield pairing.

Curbishley is expected to use the money from the sale of Kinsella to buy Alex, the Brazilian-born Japan international midfielder.

Kinsella's international midfield partner Matt Holland rejected a move to Villa over personal terms on Thursday
