Alpay talks imminent
Turkish defender Alpay enjoyed a successful World Cup
Aston Villa defender Alpay Ozalan is set to meet manager Graham Taylor for talks to resolve his future.
Alpay, who enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign with Turkey, has been the subject of constant speculation linking him with a move away from Villa.
"The thing missing at Villa is that the club has no definite aim or ambition," Alpay told English newspapers on Thursday.
"From time to time that has driven me to seek new horizons." "I have received offers from a number of clubs but I have done nothing because I have been waiting for the end of the World Cup," he said. "I still have two years left on my contract here and I am comfortable living in England.
"However, everything will become clear after I have had talks with the manager (Graham Taylor) and the board." An ankle injury has meant that Alpay has never played for Taylor, since the former England manager replaced John Gregory.
Alpay, 29, who has won 64 caps for Turkey, joined Villa from Fenerbahce in July 2000 for a transfer fee of £5.6m. Taylor also has to resolve the future of record signing Juan Pablo Angel and midfielder George Boateng.
