Hadji blow for Villa
Hadji fell awkwardly after heading the ball

Aston Villa midfielder Mustapha Hadji is set to miss the next six weeks with a knee injury.

The Moroccan sustained the injury in the 1-0 Worthington Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Hadji limped off shortly after half-time after falling awkwardly on his knee as he competed for a header in the Wednesday penalty area.

The injury capped another frustrating night for Villa manager John Gregory, who felt his team should have won the game.

"I am hugely embarrassed by the result," said Gregory. "There was enough in my dressing room to have won that game."

"I've had people banging on my door complaining about not playing. Well, they can't bang on my door any more.

"If they want to play first-team football in the Premiership they have to take their chances when they are given them."
