FA charge Hendrie
Lee Hendrie's celebrations have landed him in trouble
Hendrie's celebrations have landed him in trouble
Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association.

Hendrie has incurred the wrath of the FA for running into the crowd after scoring the decisive goal in the recent 2-1 home win over Leicester City.

The young midfielder had already received a written warning for over celebrating after scoring against Ipswich.

He has made a habit of jumping over the hoardings behind the goal at the Holte End of Villa Park to share his joy with fans.

You have to take into account the matter of safety when it comes to celebrating goals
  FA spokesman Adrian Bevington

But the FA feel he has gone too far and after failing to heed their warnings, they have hit the 23-year-old player with a charge which, if proven, will result in a fine rather than a suspension.

Spokesman Adrian Bevington explained: "Clearly you have to take into account the matter of safety when it comes to celebrating goals.

"No-one wants to take away the greatest joy of all in a game of football - scoring a goal - but a player should try and hold the celebrations within the boundaries of the pitch."

Hendrie, who says he will appeal, has 14 days to officially respond to the charge.
