Adebayor's future seemed uncertain over the summer but at the beginning of August he stated that he wanted to stay at the Emirates, saying: "I can tell everyone that, yes, I will sign a contract.
"I have three years left on my contract and I'm putting two or three years more, so I'm very happy being part of this family."
He was booed by some Arsenal fans for his perceived lack of loyalty during some pre-season friendlies, notably against Real Madrid in the Emirates Cup.
But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that supporters should give Adebayor their backing.
"We have to get behind him and support him," said Wenger. "He is a tremendous force and is of tremendous importance for the team - you want your own fans to be behind him.
"What happened in the transfer period did not always reflect his deep desire and there was manipulation from agents on both sides, but overall I am positive he will recover."
