Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams believes manager Arsene Wenger should not have sold Patrick Vieira so soon.
Midfielder Vieira moved to Juventus in the summer in a £13.7m transfer.
Adams told the Daily Mirror: "Selling Patrick may have been a year too early. Maybe he could have brought the younger guys on. It could have been an error.
"Arsenal have an inexperienced squad. A very young team. Chelsea have got some good ready-made players. It could be a transitional year for Arsenal."
Adams added: "At the moment I don't see the quality at Arsenal.
"Senderos could be a good player. He did fantastically well when he came in last year, but the energy saps in the second season.
"Toure is a bit hit and miss all of sudden."
