Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claimed his team were ready to push Chelsea all the way for the Premiership title.

After seeing his side labour to a 1-0 win at Portsmouth Wenger said: "We're back in the title race but we have to go from game to game.

"We have the hunger, the talent and the experience and they're good ingredients to make it interesting.

"We also have the belief and we can come back. You have seen that anything can happen and it's down to us."

Sol Campbell proved Arsenal's unlikely match-winner and Wenger paid tribute to the England defender.

Arsenal's defence has been criticised for the goals conceded at set pieces but Wenger praised Campbell.

He said: "There's been a lot made of it but we were well organised at set pieces and Sol won two or three important headers."

"We looked much more solid at set pieces and it was a great shot from Sol, I'm pleased for him."

Wenger admitted that whle Arsenal were not their normal fluent selves, a win was vital.

"We knew the three points were important because Chelsea and Manchester United both won at home.

"We created chances in the first-half and didn't score, and in the second-half we suffered a bit as a result.

"But in the end we scored and got the result."
