Sol Campbell has been fined £20,000 by the Football Association for improper behaviour during Arsenal's Community Shield match against Manchester United in August.
But the England defender escaped without a suspension at a personal hearing to explain his clash with Man United's Eric Djemba-Djemba.
He kicked out at Djemba-Djemba in an incident which was missed by referee Steve Bennett but picked up by television cameras.
"The FA gave me a fair hearing and I'm happy with the decision they've made," Campbell told Arsenal's official website after the hearing.
The FA's disciplinary committee amended the charge to one of improper behaviour under their Rule E1.
The original charge was one of violent conduct under Rule E2.
Campbell accepted his guilt and presented mitigation to the commission, who decided the Arsenal defender should be warned as to his future conduct as well as imposing the fine.
The 28-year-old was reported last month to have threatened to quit international football over what he saw as a vendetta against him by the FA.
He missed the final four games of last season - including the FA Cup final - after being sent off for lashing out at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the 2-2 draw with title rivals Manchester United.
And he has already served a one-match ban for his red card for a professional foul in the 2-1 victory over Everton at Highbury on the opening day of the season.
