Arsenal duo bag awards
Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and manager Arsene Wenger
Formidable: Henry and Wenger scoop top gongs
Arsene Wenger and Thierry Henry have won the Barclaycard manager and player of the month awards for September.

Arsenal scored 12 goals in five matches during last month and some impressive performances helped them to wins over Manchester City, Charlton, Bolton and Leeds.

The Gunners, yet to be beaten this season, are two points clear at the top of the Barclaycard Premiership.

"Arsene Wenger and Thierry Henry epitomise what is so good about Arsenal," said a statement from the Barclaycard Awards Panel.

"Wenger is one of the greatest managers in Premiership history who looks set to dominate the English game for years to come.

"Henry is being touted as one of the best players in the world and who would argue?

"Fifty-eight Premiership goals, four during September, he was last season's Barclaycard Golden Boot winner and surely the favourite to win it again.

"Not bad for a player who is just 25 years old."
