Van Bronckhorst hit by long lay-off
Arsenal's Giovanni Van Bronckhorst
Van Bronckhorst was injured playing against Fulham
Arsenal will be without Giovanni van Bronckhorst until December after the Dutch midfielder was diagnosed with a ruptured cruciate ligament.

The 27-year-old underwent scans on Wednesday which revealed the extent of the damage.

Van Bronckhorst, who suffered the injury in Arsenal's 4-1 in over Fulham on Saturday, signed for the North London club in an 8.5m deal from Rangers.

However, his first-team starts have been limited by the form of Patrick Viera and Robert Pires in Arsenal's midfield.

He has scored one goal in 13 Premiership starts for the Gunners.

The Dutch international's injury is nonetheless a bitter blow for Arsenal as they challenge for the Premiership, Champions League and FA Cup.

Tony Adams, Ashley Cole, Martin Keown and Freddie Ljunberg are already out with injuries.
