Overmars: Wenger will leave Arsenal
Arsene Wenger
Wenger has not yet signed a new contract at Arsenal
Former Arsenal star Marc Overmars is convinced he could playing under his old boss, Arsene Wenger, next season.

Gunners manager Wenger has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move to the Barcelona to take over as coach from Lorenzo Serra Ferrer.

And Overmars is convinced the Frenchman will leave Highbury for the Nou Camp.

I have a strong feeling he is going to leave Arsenal at the end of this season

He told the Mail on Sunday: "Barcelona have asked for lots of information about Wenger. I think something could happen soon.

"I know the way Arsene thinks and feels about things and I have a strong feeling he is going to leave Arsenal at the end of this season," he added.

But former Gunners midfielder, Emmmanuel Petit, has a different view.

Petit, who left Highbury for Barcelona in a double deal with Overmars, told the News of the World: "I'm sure Arsene won't come here and will stay at Arsenal.

"We talk a lot and that's the impression that I've got. I have heard the rumours but I am certain they are not true."

The Sunday Mirror claims that Wenger is poised to ask Arsenal for an early release from his contract, which runs out at the end of the 2001-2 season.
