Hislop helped Raith Rovers win the Division One title
Arbroath have agreed terms with Steve Hislop after the striker was released by Raith Rovers following the Kirkcaldy club's promotion to Division One.
The 31-year-old returned from injury last season in time to score vital goals against Stranraer and Stirling Albion in the run-in to the title.
Arbroath manager John McGlashan said Hislop had rejected other offers.
"It is a mark of the progress we have made that a player of Steven Hislop's calibre is joining us," he said.
"Being an ex-striker myself, I have watched his career with interest over the years and, as soon as I knew he was available, I arranged a chat and I was delighted with the positive response I got.
"Some people may be expecting Arbroath to rest content with another season of just avoiding relegation, but I want us to keep progressing and move into the top half of the table and having Steven here helps us achieve that."
Hislop joins the Second Division club after also previously playing with Ross County, Livingston, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Gillingham.
