Striker Scott Anson has signed for Annan Athletic after impressing during a loan spell at Galabank.

The 20-year-old was farmed out to Annan by Kilmarnock but was released by the Scottish Premier League club at the end of the season.

However, Anson will miss the start of the new campaign, surgery ruling him out of action for the next six weeks.

Anson started his career with Hamilton Accies and played one first-team game before joining Kilmarnock in 2006.

He had won the under-19 "rising star" award two seasons ago in the SPL.

But Anson also only made one substitute appearance for Killie and was sent on loan to both Montrose and Division Three rivals Annan last term.

He scored three goals in 10 games for Montrose then grabbed two in three matches during his month with Annan.
