Short will be re-united with manager Jim Thompson at Crichton
Annan Athletic have transferred striker Darren Johnstone to Crichton and released defender Tom Short.
The 18-year-old Short is to attend Lancaster University and "will play locally in Carlisle" according to Annan's website.
"We have agreed a transfer deal that will see the big striker make the switch," it said of Johnstone.
"There was interest from other clubs, but Darren chose to move to the Crichton FC."
The 31-year-old, previously with Glenafton, Kello Rovers and Stenhousemuir, had been with Third Division Annan for two seasons.
Annan say that Johnstone, who was entering the final year of his contract, "would be re-united with manager Jim Thompson and his father Phil" at Crichton, who play in the South of Scotland Football League.
