Altrincham have announced the appointment of Ken McKenna as manager.

The 50-year-old joined the club as assistant manager in July 2009 and was appointed temporary manager last month after Graham Heathcote left the club.

McKenna had a two-year spell as a player at the club from 1990 to 1992, scoring 56 goals in 100 games.

The Blue Square Bet Premier club only picked up one point when McKenna took over as caretaker and they have since picked up six points from the last 15.

McKenna had a successful 10-year spell as manager at TNS in Wales, winning a hat-trick of Welsh Premier titles and leading the club into Europe seven times.

The club have also confirmed that Stuart Bimson has also agreed to become McKenna's assistant manager.
