Aldershot must remain calm against Man United - Herd

Aldershot Town captain Ben Herd says his side must not let the occasion get to them when they play Manchester United in the Carling Cup.

The Shots welcome the Premier League giants to the EBB Stadium in their fourth-round tie on Tuesday.

Herd, 26, told BBC Surrey: "It will be a special night for everyone involved as well as the fans and the staff.

"But we can't get too over-awed by the occasion. We've got to remember it's a match and acquit ourselves well."

The right-back added that Aldershot must believe they can pull off an upset to make the last eight for the first time in their history.

"We'll try and do ourselves proud, play the best we can and give our fans something to cheer about," Herd continued.

"You have to believe. You don't go into games thinking you'll draw or lose.

"We're paid to play winning football. We'll do everything we can to win."
