Aldershot's Peter Duffy aims to secure club's future
Duffy replaces Doug Wilson as chief executive at Aldershot
New Aldershot chief executive Peter Duffy says he is looking to run the club as a viable business.
Duffy was appointed on Wednesday after a month behind the scenes at the club.
He told BBC Surrey: "I'm in no doubt this is a business. First and foremost, it's got to be sustainable. It's got to keep going for years and years to come.
"All football clubs are waking up to the harsh commercial realities. We've got to sow the seeds for long term development of the club."
He added: "I'm very privileged I'm inheriting a good club with a proud history and tremendous support. I'm really passionate about what I'm doing and the nature of the business."
Duffy will be fully responsible for financial, commercial, operational and football disciplines at Aldershot.
Shots chairman John Leppard told the club website: "This is a major appointment for the club. We needed somebody to take control of operating the club, to take it forward and, importantly, implement fresh ideas.
"Myself and the directors are very much looking forward to working with him over the next few years and welcome him to the club."
Duffy replaces Doug Wilson who resigned his position earlier this year.
