Aldershot sign former Reading duo Brown and Young

Aldershot Town have brought in former Reading players Aaron Brown and Jamie Young on non-contract deals.

Brown, 26, will bolster the defence while goalkeeper Young, 24, will cover for Mikhael Jaimez Ruiz.

Shots manager Kevin Dillon knows both players from his time as a youth coach at the Berkshire club.

Brown told BBC Surrey: "The opportunity to work with Kevin again was great for me. I want to play but obviously I've got to fight for a place."

He added: "He likes a player to give your all and you can't ask for more than that really."

Brown will offer competition for the Shots back line, with Dave Winfield out injured and Chris Blackburn carrying a knee problem.

He spent two-and-a-half years at Reading before joining Yeovil in August 2008.

This season he has been at Burton Albion, but found first team opportunities limited.

Australian Young was a trainee at Reading, making only one senior appearance, before joining Wycombe on a free transfer in 2006.

He played one league game this season for the Chairboys before leaving in January.

Young told BBC Surrey: "A change was needed for me, and here poses a good place for that - get games and further my career.

"I've known Kevin since I was 16. Somebody I know is a good thing. Hopefully it could be good for me, could be good for him and the club ultimately."

Both are likely to be included in the Aldershot squad for their match away to Bradford on Saturday.
