Aldershot manager to release trio

Aldershot defender Rhys Day
Day has been critical of his own performances this season

Aldershot manager Gary Waddock has confirmed three players including captain Rhys Day will not be offered new contracts next season.

Defender Day and strikers Rob Elvins and Junior Mendes will not have their deals renewed in the summer.

Waddock said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the contribution that they made last season with promotion to the Football League.

"I wish all three players the very best for the future and wish them well."

Day, 26, departs the club after three seasons and 112 appearances for the Shots after being signed by Terry Brown in the summer of 2006.

Elvins, 22, has been with Aldershot for two seasons after joining from West Bromwich Albion.

Mendes, 32, is currently on loan at Blue Square Premier play-off hopefuls Stevenage Borough, after joining the Shots in 2008.
