Airdrie Utd win sponsorship deal
Marvyn Wilson and Sandy Stewart with Nicola Slater of Pertemps
The new deal is a huge boost for Airdrie United
Airdrie United have secured a one-year shirt sponsorship deal with a Birmingham-based recruitment agency.

The deal with Pertemps, which will net the fledgling club a "substantial five-figure sum", was announced by club chairman Jim Ballantyne.

Ballantyne said: "This is great news on the eve of the season and further proof that football is here to stay in Airdrie."

Airdrie United face Forfar Athletic on Saturday in their first-ever Scottish League match at New Broomfield.

Manager Sandy Stewart said: "If we are competitive this season I will be more than happy.

"Airdrie are just happy to be back playing in Scottish football."

Stewart has signed 11 players and he is hoping to add Martin Glancy and David McGuire to his squad before the opener.

He said: "We will have a squad of about 15 or 16 for our opening game."

The club was formed from the ashes of the defunct Airdrieonians.

After losing out to Gretna for Airdrieonian's league place, the club bought over Clydebank and changed the name to Airdrie United, thereby installing themselves in the Second Division.
