Durnin joins Stanley
Ambitious Accrington Stanley have continued their raid on the Nationwide League ahead of their first Nationwide Conference campaign with the capture of midfielder John Durnin.

The former Port Vale, Portsmouth and Oxford has joined Stanley on a 12-month deal after impressing during a number of pre-season games.

Durnin, 37, has scored almost 100 League goals in a career which started at Liverpool and also included spells with Carlisle and Kidderminster.

The Merseyside-born player joined Port Vale in December, 2001 and combined playing and coaching duties under Brian Horton.

Durnin follows the former Burnley trio of Paul Cook, Gordon Armstrong and Andy Waine in joining last season's UniBond League champions.
