Blackman attracted by Brown and Knox

Nick Blackman admits the chance to work with Craig Brown and Archie Knox again swayed his decision to join Aberdeen on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Blackburn man rejoined the duo he played under at Motherwell in the first half of the season, where he scored 10 goals in 18 matches.

"As soon as I heard the gaffer and Archie wanted me, that was a big factor in me coming," he said.

"Any club Craig and Archie are at will be heading in the right direction."

Blackman agreed a new two-and-a-half year contract at Blackburn after his successful spell at Fir Park.

And Motherwell had hoped to bring the striker back for the remainder of the season.

"It was really difficult (not to go back to Motherwell)," he admitted.

"I'd just like to say thanks to everyone there, I had a great time there.

"The players, staff and fans were great to me so it was a really hard decision."

"At Aberdeen I want to play as many games as possible and score a few goals along the way.

"The strikers have been scoring a lot of goals lately and that's what every club needs, healthy competition."

Blackman may have a hard time breaking into a Dons side that has won four and drawn once since Brown and Knox arrived at Pittodrie.

Scott Vernon has scored six goals in those five games, with strike partner Chris Maguire finding the net four times in the same period.
