Aluko named young player of month

Aluko has been in fine form for recently Aberdeen

Aberdeen winger Sone Aluko has been named the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League young player of the month for November.

The 19-year-old scored twice for the Dons last month.

He netted the only goal of the game in the home win over Kilmarnock and scored the second goal in the 2-0 home victory over St Mirren.

Aluko starred for Aberdeen on loan last season before making a permanent move from Birmingham City in the summer.

MY SPORT: DEBATE

"I think team performances have picked up and that's helped me play better," Aluko told BBC Sport.

"I've had a good run of games and that's helped me get fitter and stronger."

Aluko signed a three-year contract in the summer but his good performances have already led to transfer speculation.

However, he insists he has given no thought to moving on so early in his Dons career.

"I won't be leaving here in a hurry," he said. "Aberdeen is a good place for me; it's an ambitious club with good traditions.

"One day I'd like to play in the highest league and playing in the English Premier League is one of my ambitions."

The speedy winger is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury but could make a first-team return within a fortnight.
