Calderwood has been criticised by some of the Dons fans
Aberdeen director of football Willie Miller has said manager Jimmy Calderwood will be the first to know if he is at risk of losing his job.
Miller responded to persistent rumours at the weekend that suggested Calderwood was facing imminent dismissal from the SPL club.
"If Aberdeen was considering parting company with him, he would hear it from myself," Miller told the club website.
"Face to face long before it appeared in the public domain."
The former Aberdeen defender hit out at internet websites and messageboard forums, where fans share gossip and speculation about their clubs on a 24-hour basis.
"We live in an age where internet chat sites come up with dozens of rumours every single day, the vast majority of which are total rubbish, and I would not be at all surprised if that is where this one originated from," said Miller.
Calderwood also said he would be surprised if rumours the rumours proved to be correct.
Following Saturday's 1-1 draw away to Hearts, Calderwood, who has been criticised by some fans after recent results, said: "It's absolute nonsense - I know nothing about it and I would be absolutely amazed if it were true."
