Mulgrew (right) was given his marching orders against Hibs
Aberdeen defender Charlie Mulgrew has had his claim for wrongful dismissal against Hibernian dismissed by the Scottish Football Association.
Mulgrew was sent off by referee Mike McCurry for using a hand to block a Steven Fletcher shot.
However, the Dons players claimed Fletcher was in an offside position when he interfered with play.
Derek Riordan scored the resultant penalty to net his second goal of the game and give Hibs a 2-1 Pittodrie win.
An SFA statement read: "The player had been sent off for denying the opposing team or an opponent a goal or obvious goal-scoring opportunity as defined by Law 12.
"Having viewed the video evidence, the referee acknowledged that it clearly shows player Steven Fletcher was in an offside position when he struck the ball.
"However, given the circumstances (i.e. the offside decision having not been given), the referee had to conclude that the player was correctly sent off."
Scotland Under-21 international Mulgrew will now be suspended for Aberdeen's next match against Falkirk on Saturday 18 October.
