Jimmy Calderwood said Rangers were unlucky to lose the SPL title
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood expressed sympathy for Rangers after his side's 2-0 victory dashed the Ibrox club's SPL title hopes.
"Of course I feel for Walter and assistants Ally McCoist and Kenny McDowall," said Calderwood.
"Take nothing away from Celtic's title but I honestly believe that, if Rangers didn't have the programme that they had, they would have won the league."
Victory saw the Dons finish in fourth spot, a point ahead of Dundee United.
Calderwood cast his mind back to Celtic's 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park in April, when Zander Diamond's late goal was chalked off.
"It can be very close," he said.
"Celtic maybe deserved to beat us that day but, if that goal had stood, I think the league would have been finished that day and the league would have gone somewhere else."
